Anti-Bullying

Our goal is always to improve the situation for students who have been victimized by bullying.

Although harassment, intimidation and bullying can take place in all settings, students are more vulnerable to bullying in school than elsewhere.  It took surprisingly long for all states to adopt legislation addressing bullying in schools, but now every state has an anti-bullying law in place.  Despite some similarities in the laws among the states, there are also notable differences both in implementation and effectiveness.

Barger & Gaines can help you navigate the requirements in your state and your local public school district.  We work with families from the time of reporting incidents to the district, during the investigation of the matter, through any appeal to the board of education.  When a family disagrees with a local board's determination, we will explain alternatives and provide the family with the option of initiating formal action with the state.

Our goal is always to improve the situation for students who have been victimized by bullying.  We collaborate with our clients to determine how to proceed, always mindful, above all else, of the impact on the student.
