Amanda Villamar is an advocate serving families throughout New Jersey.  She uses a creative approach to problem-solving and collaboration to help secure an appropriate educational program for each child based on their unique needs.   

Ms. Villamar has advocated for children, including her own, for over 14 years.   Before becoming an advocate, she received her bachelor's in psychology and provided services to children with autism in early intervention programs.  Ms. Villamar then earned her masters in social work with an emphasis on children with disabilities.  She obtained her social worker (LSW) license and certification in school social work.  Ms. Villamar continued working with children with disabilities in school-based programs and hospital settings.  

After navigating the complex special education system for her children, Ms. Villamar decided to move into professional advocacy. She is an active member of the Council of Parents, Attorneys, and Advocates (COPAA) and has completed the COPAA Special Education Training Program (SEAT).  Ms. Villamar previously worked at SPAN Parent Advocacy Network as a Program Coordinator. She assisted countless families, guiding them through their complex educational concerns to find a path forward.   Ms. Villamar also serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).  

Ms.Villamar always brings tremendous passion and empathy to her work. She is a mother to three children, two of whom have disabilities.
